From consultancy to building real products

Strongbytes started as a consultancy-first company, working closely with engineering teams to improve how software was designed, built, and delivered. We helped organisations refine delivery processes, shape new products from early ideas, and introduce technical innovation into existing systems.

Over time, our work expanded across a wide range of customers—from fast-moving startups to large enterprises and Fortune 500 companies. Despite their differences, they all faced the same challenge: scaling software delivery without sacrificing quality or control.

As these partnerships deepened, Strongbytes evolved. We transitioned from advising teams to building entire products end to end, taking responsibility for architecture, implementation, and long-term operation. To support this shift, we assembled a team of highly skilled engineers and technical leaders focused on craftsmanship and impact.

Data, AI, and systems at scale

As the industry evolved, so did our focus.

Strongbytes increasingly specialised in data engineering, creating robust data platforms that powered analytics, automation, and decision-making. From there, we moved naturally into building AI-powered systems, long before generative AI became mainstream.

We delivered these systems across healthcare, finance, automotive, and the public sector—domains where correctness, traceability, and reliability are essential. This work gave us first-hand experience operating intelligent systems in environments where failure is not an option.

The generative AI turning point

When large language models entered production systems, the pace and nature of change shifted dramatically. AI systems became conversational, autonomous, and deeply embedded into workflows. At the same time, they became harder to evaluate, harder to debug, and harder to trust. Traditional testing approaches no longer applied, and monitoring alone could not explain why systems behaved the way they did.

Across projects and industries, we kept encountering the same fundamental question: how do you scale AI systems with confidence?

Why we built Aegis

Aegis was born in 2024 as a direct response to that question.

Drawing on over a decade of experience building and operating complex software and AI systems, we created Aegis as an evaluation, observability, and assurance platform for modern AI. Its goal is to help organisations understand how their models and agents behave, detect regressions early, and generate clear, auditable evidence of responsible AI behaviour.

Aegis is not a standalone experiment. It is the natural evolution of Strongbytes’ mission—applying everything we have learned about trustworthy software to a world increasingly shaped by AI.
